Conference private concert

Tours and cultural events

Monday 28 September 2026 20:30
Meeting point: Teatro Palladium, Piazza Bartolomeo Romano, 8

An amazing live concert by the Roma Tre Orchestra, structured specifically for IFLA 2026 participants, will take place in the modern, yet historic Teatro Palladium.

Commissioned by the Istituto Case Popolari to house a cinema-theatre and a series of private residences spread over six floors, and built between 1926 and 1927 by architect Innocenzo Sabbatini, the Palladium Theater is the evocative gateway to Garbatella, a small neighbourhood modelled after English garden cities.

In stark stylistic contrast to the formal and functional nature of previous buildings designed for public housing, the theatre, especially its façade, recalls the majestic classical constructions inspired by the remains of ancient Rome.

After years of decay, the Palladium was reclaimed by Roma Tre University, restored and enhanced to host a rich calendar of cultural events designed for the city. The theatre promotes an ideal of performance based on the education of students, who can enhance and deepen the disciplinary and professional skills acquired during their university studies in various fields of entertainment.

Included in all the participants’ and accompanying persons’ fees.

Meeting point: Main entrance of the Sapienza University of Rome, Piazzale Aldo Moro, 5

The tour will take you around the park of Foro Italico, located between the slopes of Monte Mario and the river Tiber. It was designed in the late 1920s by arch. Enrico Del Debbio on behalf of Renato Ricci, President of the Opera Nazionale Balilla. Their aim was to dedicate the whole area to the education of young people through sport. The park was inaugurated in 1932 and stands out for its three huge rationalistic red-brick buildings, surrounded by white Carrara marble. That is what all architectural elements in Foro Italico are made of: the Piazzale dell’Impero, adorned with black and white sports themed mosaics; the astonishing monolith; the Fountain of the Sphere; the famous Stadio dei marmi, with its 60 marble athletes; the Olympic swimming pool decorated by marine themed polychrome mosaics and lastly the Casa della Scherma (House of Fencing) designed by Luigi Moretti. In the background stands the impressive Olympic Stadium.
